Ovada dall'alto

The city of Ovada, at the confluence of the Orba and Stura streams, preserves - like Novi Ligure -  a clear Ligurian mark. Its historic center is made up of rather narrow animated streets lined with buildings with painted facades. The undisputed capital of the Val d'Orba, Ovada is one of the very few towns in the area that does not own a castle, which was destroyed. From the artistic and architectural point of view, the Church of the Assumption and the Ancient Church are a sure point of interest.
For those who are more sensitive to throat pleasures, Ovada is renowned for its celebrated farinata (the "panissa"), prepared with chickpea flour. The traditions of its gastronomy are enhanced by the red Dolcetto of Ovada, a DOC wine produced in most of Alto Monferrato.
